CART214 FINAL DRAFT for midterm project

OK, this is the final draft (ya right) for my midterm project in my CART214 class at Concordia University. As you can see, my design has taken a shift from the more abstract approach found in the previous design.  But, it is still abstract in a way, but I find it displays the idea so much better and cleaner!
In any case, here it is.

First draft for cart214 midterm

Here is my first rough draft for the midterm. Well, first rough draft version 400 aja. I went through quite a few modifications to get to this stage. But even still, there is quite a bit to be done to improve this awesome work =D .

As you may noticed, I’ve tackle my idea in an abstract way. Not really a litteral representation of it at all. Which is fine as the poster catchs your attention with a bold statement. These colours suck ass! Which gets you thinking, and draws you in to get a better look.  Anyways, enough talking, more showing. Here you go

Digital Paint part 2

So, my initial idea was slightly too broad, with many different ideas and I figure I might as well make it more narrow.

The setup of applying the digital paint is the same, but unlike before, the painted wall will change colours depending on your mood, or the mood of the room. So, if you are happy, the colours will a vivid bright and happy colour. If you are sad, and crying, the wall will change and give an illusion of raining. Like the wall is crying with you and sharing your pain.
If two people are in the room, then the wall will change colours to reflect that. Perhaps having the colour change as the two people move around.

Another aspect the digital painted wall can be used for, is by creating ambience. If, you are watching a scary movie, then the walls around you will take up a very low resolution blur version of the movie and expand it all around you.

The same will work during a poker match. If there are two opposing forces in the game, then the technology will show that. Half the room will be one colour, and the other half would be another colour. Then when someone wins, the room changes to that person´s colours as a way of celebration! This would be extremely cool for atmosphere!

Digitally paint your wall?

The idea I have for my project about a future possible technology  is a digital paint like substance. Where, basically the user can paint a substance, perhaps a thin digital film over the wall. Allowing them to manipulate the wall in any way they see fit. Change the colour, perhaps have the weather showing, or watch their favourite television show as they traverse between rooms.

The closest upcoming technology that can perhaps do this is o-led technology or e-link. Perhaps a mixed of both.  My idea conceptually would be an illustration of someone painting a white wall, but where-ever  there is paint, you will see an interactive wall.

But, the painter is somewhat messy, and you notice in one spot of the room,  that the paint has spilled over the floor and like the wall, the floor becomes interactive. So, there be strips of digital like ambience on the floor. A potential accident that wasn’t initially consider by the manufacturers.  Perhaps this could be used for disco rooms, with flashy floors. Like the illusion your dancing on clouds! Wouldn’t that be cool?

The potential applications of this technology would be amazing. Allowing designers, marketers to place advertisements on any type of surface possible, and unlike today, it would be cheap to produce. Well, you would hope it be cheap to produce.

In any case, this is my draft idea for my final project in cart 214.

Pictures to get ideas from!
